Everything you need to know about TikTok right now and how it compares to BeReal

What are you doing Immediately?

This is what TikTok wants you to tell the world, with the upcoming new feature TikTok Now.

“In order to enable deeper communication and entertainment in a fun format, TikTok now invites you and your friends to capture what you’re doing at the moment using your device’s front and back camera,” TikTok said in a statement. “You’ll get a daily prompt to take a 10-second video or still photo to easily share what you’re up to.”

The notification contains lightning emoji and the words, “It’s time now.”

TikTok Now may seem familiar to some users. French social media app BeReal simultaneously notifies its subscribers at random times to capture and share the front and back camera image within two minutes. The push notification reads, “It’s BeReal time.”

TikTok Now also includes privacy features. User accounts under the age of 16 will be set to private. People under the age of 18 cannot share content in an Explore feed. And for those between the ages of 13 and 15, only their friends are allowed to comment on their content.
