She thought about how aging had changed her body, including “silver hair and fine lines.”
“My body, the map of evidence of all days, is less immortal,” she wrote. “Scars from oven burns, a finger smashed into the window long ago, the birth of a baby.”
Despite this, Paltrow said she accepted these signs of progress on her body.
“And as I do what I can to strive for good health and longevity, to stave off muscle weakness and declining bones, I have a motto to inject into those reckless thoughts trying to derail me: I accept,” she wrote on Goop, the website for her wellness and lifestyle company. “I accept marks and saggy skin, and wrinkles. I accept my body and let go of the need to be perfect, and look perfect, I defy gravity, I defy logic, I defy humanity. I accept my humanity.”
