Hundreds Complete Lisa’s Walk in Memphis to Honor Late Teacher

hundreds Run through Memphis Streets on September 9 as part of an event honoring the late kindergarten teacher.

The event, titled Let’s Finish Liza’s Run, comes next Elisa FletcherThe 34-year-old was found dead on Sept. 5 after he was kidnapped three days earlier while jogging, the city police department said.

The run began around 6:20 a.m. and ran 8.2 miles along a track that Fletcher ran regularly. The curators wrote on Facebook that they “created this race as a way to honor Lisa and deal with our feelings.”

“Our goal is to advocate for the women of the Mid-South,” the event’s Facebook page stated, “and to emphasize that women should be able to run safely at any time of the day.”

Authorities were notified of Fletcher’s disappearance on September 2 after the teacher did not return home from her morning commute. In Missing Persons Alertpolice said that an individual approached Fletcher during her escape and “forced her into an SUV.”
