Critics of Wilde and Styles as a couple tend to follow the usual pattern of resentment that appears when famous celebrities find each other. As in, there is rarely a real reason for such vitriol, although naysayers can always come up with something.
An age gap, for example.
“It’s obviously really tempting to correct a wrong narrative,” Wilde said. Vogue magazine for Cover Story in January 2022. “But I think what you realize is that when you’re really happy, it doesn’t matter what strangers think about you. All you care about is what’s real, what you love, and who you love.”
Keep in mind that she never mentioned Styles by name. But, she marvels at how “in the past ten years, as a society, we have placed so much more value on the opinion of strangers than on those closest to us,” she ends up caring if the Peanut Show throws stones.
“I’m happier than ever,” she said. “And I’m healthier than I’ve ever been, and it’s great to feel that.”
