The mixed martial arts world is mourning the loss of one of its stars.
Elias Theodoro, a Canadian mixed artist, who also competed for the UFC throughout his career, died on September 11 at the age of 34 after a private battle with liver cancer. A representative of Teodoro confirmed the tragic news to TSN Radio, which published the statement on social media.
“Unfortunately, the representative of Elias Theodoro has confirmed previous reports of his death at the age of 34,” Aaron Bronster From the Sports Network of Canada chirp. “Theodoro was particularly battling stage 4 liver cancer and only told a select group of people his diagnosis.”
Theodoro began his MMA career in 2011, racking up an impressive 11 consecutive victories before competing in the UFC. Overall, he fought in 22 MMA matches in his career, and his last win was a win Brian Baker last December.
In the later years of his career, Theodoro became an outspoken advocate of allowing fighters to use medicinal cannabis in sports.
